Floriography

Floriography is the language of flowers. Blooms, plants and floral arrangements can be used to send coded messages, or as symbols.

Flowers — Tormentors Of My Dreams

Caterpillars, however hard they try,
Can only ever eat and creep,
And only when a butterfly,
Are they ever free to seek,
Places far beyond their dreams,
And leave behind the pale green leaves,
Of lilacs, apples, elegant rowans,
The lilacs, lilies and the roses.

My passion, the multi-florous wreath,
In a kingdom full of blossoms,
Heady perfumes…
Drift asleep…
Into velvet darkness, deep…
Unbuttoning what is veiled and lost,
Once upon a midnight happy,
Blossoms,
Tormentors of my dreams.

My passion is the silent flora,
As by the grave I saw the storms,
On that day my soul grew lonely,
Drift asleep…
In a kingdom full of fragrant roses,
Deep into the darkness blossoming,
Once upon a midnight silent,
Flowers —
Tormentors of my dreams.

My passion is the happy birds,
As by the grave they chatter,
On that day my soul grew silent,
Drifting…
In a kingdom full of butterflies,
Deep into the darkness — waiting,
Once upon a midnight posy,
Flowers —
Tormentors of my dreams.

Oh, were I but a butterfly,
As by the grave I mourn,
On that day my soul would soar,
Drifting…
In a kingdom full of storms,
Deep into the smell of you,
Once upon a midnight splendid,
Butterflies,
Tormentors of my dreams.

However hard I try,
I can only eat and sleep,
A caterpillar on a leaf,
Unable, never free to seek,
Places far beyond my dreams,
I leave you with the pale green leaves,
Of lilacs, apples, elegant rowans,
The lilacs, lilies and the roses,
Blossoms in my midnight posies.
